Skans ApS (Nov 2022)


Skans offers products (such as handcrafted spectacles and sunglasses, prescription lenses, eye care products and gift cards) and services (such as Home Try-On). We do not offer contact lenses or eye tests as of 2022. These terms and conditions apply between Skans ApS, company number DK 43432354 and any of its affiliates (together “Skans” or “we”) and the customer for purchases and orders via the website www.skans.com or via other (online) sales channels or by physical resellers.Please read these T&C’s carefully before placing an order for any products on the website or physically. Ordering at skans.com also implies acceptance of our T&C’s as well as our integrity policy. In case the order concerns a purchase, the following is applicable. Once we have confirmed your card authorization for your order and confirmed your order in writing (including by email), an agreement between us is concluded. If you do not receive a confirmation within 24hrs of placing your order, please contact our Customer Service Team. Skans ApS is not obliged to accept any orders.If the products are no longer available, even after the order has been confirmed, we will let you know. You may then order another product from our website or, if you wish, cancel the order. Any payment made will be refunded with the same payment method as the purchase was done. 

By placing an order for spectacles you confirm that:

  • the data provided by you are complete and correct
  • you are aged 18 or over, legally qualified to place an order and are not registered blind or partially sighted
  • you have a written prescription for your spectacles that has been given to you by a professional and suitably qualified person in the last 24 months (or 12 months if you are aged 70 or over) and,
  • you will comply with all instructions provided by your optometrist and Skans
  • upon request, you will supply accurate details of your current prescription (including any notes on the prescription)
You are responsible for the prescription if you order a product on the basis of a prescription provided by a third party. Skans does not take responsibility if you order a product that has not been prescribed for you and/or if the difference between the prescription and purchase date exceeds 12 months. Any costs/damages incurred as a result of an incorrect (third party) prescription or of incorrectly providing the details of a prescription to Skans are for your account. In such an event, the purchase price of the product will not be reimbursed. Skans strongly recommends you to have your eyes checked regularly by a qualified practitioner to ensure the welfare and continuity of your eye health.

Pricing and payment

All prices shown in the website are in DKK and inclusive of 25% VAT. Payment shall be made upon placing your order. All credit card and debit card holders are subject to validity checks and authorization by the card issuer. If the issuer refuses to authorize payment, Skans may reject your order.

For Denmark: SKANS ApS accepts payment with Dankort/VISA-Dankort, VISA, VISA Electron, Mastercard, Mobilepay and Afterpay. Local differences may apply in various countries.

SKANS ApS uses an approved payment server that encrypts all your card information with SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol. This means that your information cannot be read.

We offer free delivery on all purchases over DKK 2000,- which are made through our website to Denmark and certain other countries.

Delivery & defect

SKANS ApS dispatch non personalized items (such as sunglasses, non scripted spectacles and eyewear cases) within 12h, and delivered between 1-3 days. For personalized items, such as prescription spectacles, the delivery time depends on the product but is estimated to be delivered between 5-14 weekdays from order date. Delivery times are estimates and cannot be guaranteed, as Skans is dependent on third party. 

The place of delivery is deemed to be the shipping/delivery address that you provide in your order. The products are considered delivered when accepted by or on behalf of you at the delivery address. If you fail to accept the products after two delivery attempts, we will contact you for further instructions and may charge you for storage costs and any further delivery costs. If, despite our reasonable efforts, we are unable to contact you, re-arrange delivery or collection, Skans may terminate the agreement.

For products that you pick-up physically (in for example a Skans pop up store), the products are considered delivered when picked-up by you. 

We have a legal duty to provide products in conformance with the agreement. You should inspect the products for defects as soon as possible after delivery and inform us of any defects to the products preferably within 7 days, so we can make a claim against the carrier, if needed, but in any case within 30 days.


We provide a 2 year warranty on all products, starting upon delivery, according with the Danish Købslov. Our right of complaint applies to defects in material and/or manufacturing. The complaint does not apply to errors or damage caused by incorrect operation of the product / service. If the products have a defect within the warranty period, you must notify Skans of the defect within a reasonable period after becoming aware of it (preferably within 2 months). After such notification you will be entitled to a replacement. 
No claim under the warranty can be made if the damage is caused:
  • deliberately or by negligence
  • by improper use or careless maintenance
  • by normal wear and tear
  • by not or incorrectly following the instructions relating to the Product; or
  • by having anyone other than Skans (or any of its affiliates) make repairs or changes to the Product.

Non personalized items

You have the right to cancel or exchange your purchase within 60 days without reason for non personalized items such as sunglasses, non prescription glasses and accessories. The period is calculated from the day you receive the order. 

Exchange of non personalized items

  • If the product is exchanged to a product of higher commercial value, the customer will pay the difference.
  • If the product is exchanged to a product of lower commercial value, the customer will receive the balance.

Cancellation of non personalized items

We will refund 100% of the purchase price if canceled within 60 days. 
Customers are responsible for any costs related to shipment of returning the product to Skans ApS.

In order to receive the full purchase price refunded, you must do the same as you can in a physical store. You may test the product, but not actually use it. If the item has been tried on in addition to what is described above, we consider it as used, which means that if you cancel the purchase, you will only get a part or none of the purchase amount back, depending on the item's commercial value, which Skans will decide on. For example scratched sunglasses or lenses, or a stained eyewear case will not be refunded.

Personalized items

Products that have been manufactured in accordance with the customer's instructions or that have otherwise been given a distinct personal touch, like lenses and prescription spectacles, can be canceled or exchanged within 60 days. A cancellation fee of 25% of the purchasing price (a minimum of DKK 800) will be applied and withdrawn from the purchasing amount before being refunded. 

Exchange of personalized items

If the product is exchanged to a product of higher commercial value, the customer will pay the balance between the new product and the initial product. If a customer is choosing a replacement product of lower value than the purchasing amount, the balance will not be refunded.

Cancellation of personalized items

You can cancel your personalized item within 60 days and be refunded the purchasing price minus a cancellation fee of 25% of the purchasing price (a minimum of DKK 800).

Cancellations must be reported to us no later than 60 days after the purchase, and you must return the shipment no later than 14 days after the cancellation.
The notice must be given by email at eyewear@skans.com. In the message, you must make us clearly aware that you wish to exercise your right of cancellation.

In order to receive the full purchase amount (minus cancelation fee), the item has to be in great condition. If the glasses have been used carelessly or improperly or with neglect you will only get a part or none of the purchase price refunded, which Skans will decide. For example; a scratched frame or a stained eyewear case will not be refunded, but deducted from the refunded amount.

Reclamation and complaints

We quality-assure all products before they are sent to you. Should the product still be damaged or mis-sent when you receive it, we undertake, in accordance with applicable consumer protection legislation, to remedy the defect free of charge. You must always contact us for approval before returning a defective item. The complaint must be sent immediately after the defect is discovered. Complaints must be made no later than two months after you have discovered the fault. Any errors and defects must always be advertised to where you must state your name, address, e-mail address, order number and a description of the error. If we are unable to correct the defect or supply a similar product, we will refund you for the defective product in accordance with applicable consumer law. We are responsible for return shipping for approved complaints. We reserve the right to refuse a complaint if it turns out that the product is not faulty according to applicable consumer legislation.

Limitation of liability

We do not take responsibility for indirect damages, unless otherwise follows from mandatory legislation, which may arise due to the product.
We do not accept responsibility for delays/errors as a result of circumstances over which Skans has no control (Force Majeure). These circumstances can be, for example, a labor dispute, fire, war, authority decisions, reduced or non-existent delivery from the supplier as a result of these circumstances. Should such a situation arise, Skans will notify you of this. Furthermore, no responsibility is taken for any changes to products/product properties that have been changed by the current supplier and other factors beyond our control.

No guarantees

Any information provided on or in relation to the website is for general information purposes only and the user is and remains solely responsible for the use and interpretation of the information on the Website. 
The information shall not be considered as medical advice or otherwise and should not be used for any diagnosis or choice for treatment.  Always consult a doctor or specialist for medical problems. Although we take great care in maintaining our website, we cannot guarantee that the website and its contents are accurate, complete, up to date, nor that the website is available, uninterrupted, error-free or free of viruses or bugs. Insofar as our website contains information of third party’s or links to other websites, Skans is not responsible for any such information or links (or availability thereof). 
We intend to display the products as accurately as possible but cannot guarantee that the images of the products are an accurate representation of the actual merchandise due - among other reasons - to the technical difference in monitors or screens you may use. All specifications, drawings and particulars of weights, sizes and performance are approximate only.

Gift Cards 
Skans gift cards can only be used for Skans products. The gift cards do not expire, are non-refundable and cannot be used to purchase another Skans gift card. Gift cards cannot be combined with other coupons, promotion codes and discounts.

Product Information

We reserve the right for any typographical errors on this website and for products that may be sold out. We do not guarantee that the images reflect the exact appearance of the products, as a certain color difference may occur depending on the image screen, photo quality and resolution. We always try in the best possible way to expose the products as correctly as possible.

Information on Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that is saved on your computer, for example to give you as a visitor access to various functions. Skans uses cookies on the website to ensure the functionality of the website, to make it easier for you as a visitor, for analysis purposes to measure visitor statistics and the visitor's behavior on the website and for marketing purposes, for example to be able to display relevant advertisements. Some of these cookies are so-called third-party cookies, such as Google's advertising network and affiliate network. These are placed by third parties and used by them. For more information about their use of cookies, we refer to the respective company's cookie policy.
Skans places necessary cookies when you visit the website in order to ensure the functionality of the website, to remember your consent and to be able to remember when you have placed an item in the shopping basket. The website will not function properly without these cookies, which means that they are enabled by default and cannot be disabled. Skans processes information collected via such necessary cookies with the support of a legitimate interest, where Skans's interest in being able to provide a functioning e-commerce site outweighs your interest in not having such information processed.
Placement of cookies for marketing purposes only takes place after obtaining your express consent. It is possible to set your browser so that it automatically rejects cookies. You can also refuse/opt-out of the placement of cookies for marketing purposes, in the checkbox for consent is displayed when you visit the website. We protect your personal integrity and do not collect more information than necessary. We never sell or transfer your information to third parties without a legal reason.
Skans ApS is the personal data controller for the processing of personal data that you, as a customer, have provided to us. Your personal data is processed by us in order, among other things, to be able to handle your order, as well as in cases where you have requested a newsletter or campaign offer, in order to be able to adapt the marketing to your individual needs.
